Emergency services were called after a person was hit by train near Manchester on Sunday (February 9). The incident was reported between Newton-le-Willows and Manchester Victoria.
Services between the two stations were cancelled with passengers facing delays as police and paramedics were called to the incident on the tracks near Patricroft station in Eccles, Salford.
All lines were closed following the incident, with services to both Manchester Victoria and Manchester Oxford Road impacted.
The incident was first reported at around 4.25pm. An update issued by National Rail said: "A person has been hit by a train between Newton-le-Willows and Manchester Victoria / Manchester Oxford Road. "As all lines are currently closed, trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes.
