Emmerdale's Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle on the popular ITV soap, has opened up about why she won't undergo cancer screening. This comes as her character is involved in a storyline where the Dingle family are warned they could carry a faulty gene that causes cancer. The actress was told she might carry the same gene in real life after losing her mum Cath to breast cancer 12 years ago.

Despite this, Lisa has decided not to get tested. Lisa candidly told Mirror Online: "It’s my life and I don’t want to have that test done," She added: "We’ve had years of conversation about it at Emmerdale, long before this storyline, and people have said to me ‘But Lisa, with your history and your gene pool, why would you not do it?', I reply 'Because I don’t need to do it.' I just want to be me and live my life from day to day.

I could get run over by a truck tomorrow." Lisa, who is 47 years old, sadly lost her mum Cath to breast cancer when she was just 58.

Lisa's family has faced cancer before, with two great-grandmothers having had breast cancer and three of her grandparents passing away from other types of cancer.
