A man dressed in an all-black gimp costume was snapped walking the aisles of Tesco in front of bemused social-distancing shoppers.

Wearing a full body latex suit, the self-declared Gimp Man of Essex was spotted buying essential items in Colchester. Fellow shoppers and staff stopped to pose for pictures with the mystery man in a black suit.

Pictures and a video capture him walking the aisles putting quiche, washing up liquid and milk in his basket. It was later revealed he was in store to buy items for an elderly friend, unable to get to the store herself because of coronavirus isolation.

Since the measures began, the man has popped to the shops in the latex get-up twice, and says he is doing it to make people laugh in a time of crisis.
