The government has faced a backlash over its "confused" decision to let 2.2million of England's most vulnerable people finally go outside.
People with certain medical conditions have been told to "shield" in their homes since mid-March - not leaving even for food or exercise - to protect themselves from coronavirus.
They were told the shielding would apply until at least June 30, and could last much longer. Yet late on Saturday night, Boris Johnson announced they would be able to go outside in England from today for the first time since March.
Charities and ministers generally praised the change as a step forward that, if done correctly, will help people's mental wellbeing.
