Radio and TV presenter Jamie Theakston thanked the listeners of his Heart Radio show for prompting him to get a health problem investigated, which has turned out to be cancer.
Jamie has been diagnosed with Stage 1 Laryngeal cancer – a type of cancer that affects the larynx (voice box) – and originally got his throat problem checked out after fans got in touch to tell him that his voice “hadn’t sounded right” recently on air.
Jamie announced earlier this month that he had a lesion removed from his vocal cords, but it was only on Tuesday that he revealed his cancer diagnosis.
However, his original health update in early September reveals that his listeners’ concerns were what made him originally get his throat checked out, “I’ve got you to thank,” he said.
