A caller unleashed his fury over the idea that low-risk prisoners could be released early amid the coronavirus pandemic, startling host Jeremy Vine in the process.
Aavi, from Leicestershire, descended into an angry rant as he demanded that people who "do the crime, do the time" and demanded that they "build some prisons".
When Jeremy suggested that prisoners were not sent to prison to catch a nasty illness, the caller exploded: "I could catch a nasty illness cutting the grass!" The caller began calmly enough as he said that his heart went out to anyone struggling with "the big c", saying: "God bless them all." However his tone quickly changed as he addressed the main top: "If you've done the crime, you've got to do the time!
