Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Princess of Wales will not be taking the salute at the Colonel’s Review on Saturday, 8 June, the traditional rehearsal for Trooping the Colour.
While the Princess' attendance at the actual event on 15 June remains unconfirmed, Kate would have a significant role this year as the Irish Guards, of which she is Colonel, are trooping their Regimental Colour in front of the King.
Buckingham Palace has also said that King Charles will use a carriage to take the salute during the annual birthday parade for the first time, rather than ride in the procession.
Princess Kate will be represented by General James Bucknall K.C.B., C.V.O as he will carry out the role of Inspecting Officer on her behalf.
