The 24th season of Law and Order has announced the casting of award-winning actress Maura Tierney as a series regular. She will join the existing star line-up of Odelya Halevi, Mehcad Brooks, Reid Scott, and Tony Goldwyn.
This follows significant cast changes earlier this year with departures of Camryn Manheim's Lieutenant Kate Dixon and DA Jack McCoy played by Sam Waterston.
The character Maura will play remains a secret, however reports suggest she will step into the role of a new lieutenant. A familiar face on NBC's Thursday nights, Maura is returning to primetime over a decade after her acclaimed role as Dr Abby Lockhart in ER.
Interestingly, this isn't her first interaction with the Law and Order franchise. READ MORE: READ MORE: At the beginning of her career in 1991, she made an appearance in the second season episode Aria as Patricia 'Patti' Blaine.
