Lidl has issued a warning over an online scam that could dupe thousands of customers. The budget supermarket says it is trying to get the competition removed, but in the meantime is urging loyal shoppers to be aware of the scam and not to fall for it.
The online con prompts people to pay to enter a fictitious contest - but it has nothing to do with Lidl. The popular retailer took to social media to warn customers.
A post on @LidldGb Twitter account read: “We've been informed that a fraudulent Lidl competition has been circulating the internet and they are charging participants to enter. “We are working hard to get this taken down ASAP, but please be alert to any suspicious competitions or giveaways claiming to come from us.
