One million adults in England have undiagnosed type 2 diabetes

New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) suggest that around one million adults in England are living with type 2 diabetes without knowing it.

The condition can cause blood sugar levels to become too high, which can lead to serious health problems if not treated. The ONS used data from the Health Survey for England between 2013 and 2019 to estimate that 7% of people over the age of 16 show signs of type 2 diabetes.
