Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan has been forced to step back from Good Morning Britain after experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. The controversial presenter has been replaced on the morning show this week as he self-isolates.

Ben Shephard stepped into the hot seat on Monday morning after the news of Piers’ potential illness broke. Piers announced on Twitter: ‘UPDATE: On medical advice, and out of an abundance of caution for a mild symptom that arose in past 48hrs, I’ve had a test for COVID-19 and so won’t be working on @GMB until I get the result back, which should be tomorrow.’ On the show, Susanna Reid sent her co-host a message, telling him: ‘We send our very best wishes and we’ll be on our best behaviour while he’s not here.’ Dr Hilary Jones also revealed
