Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan told Good Morning Britain viewers that he will be replaced on the ITV panel next week. The presenter explained that he has decided to take the half term holiday off - despite the fact that there is no half term - because it has been a “long old haul” reporting on coronavirus news.

His co-host Susanna Reid and Dr Hilary Jones, who have also been working throughout the pandemic, will be taking a break from the programme too.

He said: “We're having this extraordinary thing where Susanna, Hilary and I, we’re going to have a week off. “We’ll have half-term off next week, even though, of course, there is no half term.” When Piers, 55, announced the news during a video call with weather presenter Laura Tobin, Susanna Reid joked that
