Premier League desire for home and away venues confirmed despite fear of fans congregating

The Premier League wants to play out the season “as much as possible” at home and away venues, says chief executive Richard Masters.

Top-flight officials were previously looking to carry out fixtures at neutral hubs across the country if the season resumes, only for the majority of clubs to express their opposition to the concept.

Nevertheless, fears have grown that supporters will defy coronavirus restrictions and congregate outside stadiums if matches are played at home venues.

Liverpool, who are on the verge of becoming champions, slammed the city’s Mayor earlier this month for suggesting Reds fans will gather outside Anfield if they wrap up the title.
