Spain is holding drive-through funerals for families who lost their members to coronavirus as the death toll rises above 13,000.

Heartbreaking video emerged of a dark hearse pulling up at the La Almudena cemetery in Madrid, the epicentre of Spain's pandemic.

Catholic priest Father Edduar stands next to the vehicle as he greets the victim's family members, who keep at a distance as followed by the country's state of emergency measures.

The priest spends about five minutes on the blessings and prayers before dousing the sealed casket with holy water. Shortly after, a pair of staff emerge to load the casket onto a gurney and roll it inside.
