Paris Saint-Germain have been crowned Ligue 1 champions after the season was ended early due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to French publication L'Equipe, in a major boost to Liverpool's Premier League title hopes.

France made the call to end their top-flight campaign on Tuesday and L'Equipe are reporting that PSG have been awarded the title.

They were 12 points clear of second placed Marseille when the season was called off by the government and had a game in hand over their rivals.

It is not yet known whether any sides will be relegated to Ligue 2, with Nimes, Amiens and Toulouse facing an anxious wait over their top-flight future.
