A Scots schoolboy has written a children's book honouring his "superhero" surgeon, who has treated him for nearly all his life.Larry Malkin, eight, was born with Bilateral Fixed Talipes, known as club feet, with his parents Nick and Eri told that both of his feet turned inwards, and he would likely face mobility and skeletal challenges for the rest of his life.He has been under the care of orthopaedic surgeon Mr Mohamed Osman - whom he calls Dr O - at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow since he was a toddler.
His dad Nick has praised the doctor for everything he has done for the youngster. He said: "The remarkable thing about Mr Osman, beyond his exceptional surgical skills, is the connection he creates with his patients and their families.
Larry absolutely idolises him and has learned so much from him over the past eight years."Mr Osman has performed four major operations on Larry, including tendon transfers on his legs, with more expected as he grows. As a baby and toddler, his legs were in full casts with a bar between them, and he now wears rigid splints on both legs every day.Now Larry and Nick, a children's book author, have teamed up to write a book about him, which he has titled Dr.
O My Superhero.Nick said: "Larry suggested that we should write a book featuring Mr Osman, but with superpowers, flying wheelchairs, the 'O-mobile' - even surprise patients from outer space - all in rhyming verse!"And he really hopes to raise significant funds for his hospital.
