Shayne Ward is one of the celebrities competing on this year's Strictly Come Dancing, with the singer taking on fellow famous faces including Pete Wicks, Tasha Ghouri, Jamie Borthwick and Sam Quek on the dance floor.

Having rose to fame on The X Factor, Shayne is best-known for his incredible singing voice, but has also branched out into acting, having previously landed a role in Coronation Street.

Shayne, 39, appeared on The X Factor in 2005 but just months later he feared his singing career was over for good. He developed vocal cord nodules in August 2006.The condition put an end to the singing career of Julie Andrews and has previously impacted stars such as Rod Stewart and Justin Timberlake.

Shayne, who was around 22 years old at the time, was flown out to Los Angeles to see a specialist surgeon after his diagnosis.Thankfully, his treatment was successful and he was able to return to his singing career shortly afterwards.
