A GP has highlighted the five warning signs of skin cancer to be aware of after follow Sarah Ferguson's diagnosis. The Duchess of York was told she had melanoma just months after she received treatment for breast cancer.
In July last year, the 64-year-old had an eight-hour mastectomy – but unfortunately last month, during the follow-up surgery, dermatologists had to remove several moles, finding one to be malignant melanoma.
Despite this diagnosis, the mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie has said in a post on Instagram that she is in “good spirits” and “grateful for the many messages of love and support”.
According to Cancer Research UK, melanoma accounts for 4% of all new cancer cases, which makes it the fifth most common form of cancer in the UK.
