Two hillwalkers have been rushed to hospital following a dramatic rescue in horror conditions on a Scots island.Emergency services were called to Eabhal Isle of North Uist, Outer Hebrides, after the alarm was raised at around 5.15pm on Friday.
The coastguard were alerted to two walkers who hadn't returned home from a trek. Along with officers from Police Scotland and a mountain rescue team, crews began a search east of Locheport.
In driving rain, low cloud and strong winds members of the two Uist Coastguard Rescue Teams began a search on foot along the route believed to have been taken by the walkers earlier in the day.
With nothing found - and conditions worsening - the foot search was extended to the summit and faces of Eabhal, while a coastguard helicopter was drafted in to assist.
