A young mum who suffered serious injuries after being hit by a taxi in Bulgaria has been driven back to Scotland by a medical team.
Stephanie Watson, 26, from Wester Hailes in Edinburgh, was struck by the car moments after she arrived at Burgas Airport with two friends for a holiday on Sunday, August 18.The mum-of-three suffered a disfigured shoulder, a punctured lung, broken ribs and a smashed pelvis in the horror crash.She underwent two major surgeries in Bulgaria but requires urgent further treatment for her pelvis in Scotland.
Medics deemed the young mum unfit to fly due to her serious injuries. She was driven 2,149-miles by a medical team to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on Tuesday.
Her family issued an update on her recovery writing: "Stephanie and her mum are on the road home with a medical team from Bulgaria."The journey takes two days by road but it was the safest way to get Stephanie home taking into consideration her injuries and pain."A fundraiser was launched for Stephanie after it was revealed that she had travelled without insurance.
