A fit and healthy Uber driver texted "pray for me" to his family as he lay dying of coronavirus - with his brother claiming he caught the bug from a coughing passenger.

Ayub Akhtar had apparently told his family about the female passenger who coughed continuously in his taxi before he began developing symptoms himself.

The 33-year-old south Londoner then died last Friday in intensive care. Brother Yasser told the Daily Mail that Ayub, of Norwood, was "struggling to breathe" and he could hear his "painful coughing" during the night.

Within days of picking up the woman in his Prius he felt cold and couldn't stop coughing before an ambulance was called when his condition deteriorated.
