It's officially time to get out the sun cream as the UK is set to sizzle this week in temperatures higher than Ibiza. The south of the country will be the hottest spot this week - but much of the UK will enjoy temperatures much higher than the June average.
Yesterday, Met Office forecasters issued a two level-two heat alert for the whole of England. The alert is triggered as soon as the risk is 60 per cent or above for threshold temperatures being reached in one or more regions on at least two consecutive days and nights. "This is an important stage for social and healthcare services who will be working to ensure readiness and swift action to reduce harm from a potential heatwave", the Met Office said.
