The move comes amid the outbreak of coronavirus threat across the nation. "Manufacturing, sale and storage of pan masala is being banned in the state till further orders," Food Security Commissioner Ministhy S said in an order issued here. "Spitting pan masala can help in spreading Covid-19," the order said.

At least 35 people in the Uttar Pradesh, including one foreign national, have been confirmed positive for coronavirus. Notably, 11 people have been treated and discharged from the hospitals and no casualties have been reported in
