Well-wishes have flooded in for Boris Johnson after he was taken into intensive care. The Prime Minister was previously suffering from ‘mild symptoms’ of coronavirus - but his condition has worsened over the past 24 hours.

It is understood that the 55-year-old remains conscious and was moved to ICU in the St Thomas' Hospital in London at around 7pm on Monday as a precaution.

Politicians across the political divide have tweeted out messages of support shortly after the shocking news broke earlier tonight.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon wrote: “My thoughts are with the PM and his family, sending him every good wish.” The new Leader of the Opposition and Labour leader, Keir Starmer, said: “Terribly sad news.
