Why schools can't open until June 1 - and they will have to look very different

UK schools were closed last month in an attempt to halt the spread of coronavirus. Although experts think children are largely unaffected by the disease, those who work in schools were considered in danger.

While the congregation of parents at dropping off and picking up times was also a concern. And while kids don't seem to suffer as much from the virus, they do carry it and can spread it.

Closing the schools also had a big psychological effect on the country - emphasising the severity of the lockdown measures. But keeping children out of the classroom is having a huge effect on the economy as millions of parents have been taken out of the workplace.
