MUMBAI : In the midst of the 21-day lockdown, banks are gearing up to deliver services to the needy who would soon see the promised direct benefit transfer (DBT) money flow into their accounts, said three people aware of the development.
These include keeping all branches across urban, semi-urban, metros and rural areas open on all working days from 10 am to 2 pm, and asking more staff to resume duties, if required.
Banks are currently focusing on four services—cash withdrawals, cheque clearing, remittances and government transactions, and are operating with skeletal staff. “Banks have divided staff into two groups across branches and asked them to come on alternate days.
