A man was rushed to hospital after a car crash in Abram on Thursday night (December 19). A power cable fell to the ground and blocked the road after the smash on Warrington Road.
The main road was closed in both directions between Lee Lane and St John's Street after the incident shortly after 5pm. Live traffic service Inrix said there was a collision, with power cables also falling to the ground.
Fire crews, police and paramedics all responded to the incident. The driver, a man, was rushed to hospital from the scene. Further details about his condition have not yet been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 5pm this evening (Thursday 19 December), two fire engines from Hindley and Wigan fire stations and the Technical Response Unit from Leigh Community Fire Station were called to attend a road traffic collision involving one car on Warrington Road, Wigan. “Crews arrived quickly and worked alongside colleagues from Highways and Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe.
