Edwina Bartholomew, who is known for presenting Australian breakfast show Sunrise, has shared the reason she has kept her cancer diagnosis a secret from her children. The TV personality shared her diagnosis news publicly in September, revealing she is battling chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML), which is a type of blood and bone marrow cancer.
However, her children; Molly, four, and two-year-old Tom, who she shares with husband Neil Varcoe, are still unaware of their mum's health battle. "My kids are two and four, I never had to have the conversation with them, which is such a huge relief.
For them, there's no physical difference," she told Stellar Magazine in a recent interview. During the interview, Edwina admitted that two people she did need to have the conversation with was her parents, which was incredibly difficult.
Particularly struggling with her father's reaction, Edwina said; "Watching Dad find out was probably harder than watching Mum, because I think dads are often quite stoic, aren't they?
