Celtic footballer becomes first gaming volunteer at Scots children's hospital
A kindhearted Celtic footballer has become the first gaming volunteer at a Scottish children's hospital.Hoops player Matt O'Riley usually spends his time at Celtic Park in front of a crowd of 60,000 fans - but is now donating some of his spare time to those being treated in Glasgow's Children's Hospital.
The footballer loves to unwind post match with video games and is now bringing that hobby to brighten up the time of children undergoing treatment.
Matt joins the team of incredible volunteers at the children’s hospital, saying that he has formed genuine connections with families, playing a small part in their journey by sharing the magic of gaming.Matt said: “The chance to spend time with some of these kids and their families is a real privilege."And being able to bring a smile to their faces with the help of gaming is truly amazing.
I would encourage anyone out there looking to bring some joy to the world to give this a try.”The Gaming Volunteer programme is open to keen gamers who would like to make a positive impact on the lives of young patients in hospital, with just a three-hour commitment required per week.
