Claudia Winkleman's 'severe' lifelong health condition that left her 'banging into walls'

BBC'S The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman has recently returned to screens to host the second season of the tense psychological reality TV show but many may not know that behind the scenes, the star is battling a life-long health condition.The 51-year-old presenter suffers from an incurable eye condition called myopia which has left her unable to read the autocue and causes her to "bang into walls" as her sight is so bad.Claudia, who was born with -15 short sighted vision previously made the heart breaking admission that she has "never really been able to see my face", due to the severity of her condition as she revealed that it's all "guesswork" when it comes to her features.Myopia is a common eye condition in which objects close to us appear clear and things further away look blurry, however the severity of Claudia's eye sight is very rare.Opening up about her vision which has left her unable to drive in a recent How To Fail podcast, Claudia said: "I've always had terrible eyesight.

Which is going back to the blurriness of the paintings I like and the blurriness of how I really like life to be."I've had a couple of operations since then because I was just banging into walls.

But now I wear lenses or glasses or whatever."The mum-of-three previously underwent laser eye surgery at Moorsfields Eye Hospital in London.

The procedure is a major operation that uses lasers to reshape the front surface of your eyes, so that they can focus better.The operation which Claudia has described as "life-changing" was crucial as her condition was affecting her role on Strictly Come Dancing.Speaking to The Sun back in 2021, she said: "I can't even begin to tell you how blind I am.
