Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan in furious GMB clash with minister over coronavirus tests

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan ripped into Tory care minister Helen Whately on the show today. Piers, 55, ranted as it was revealed coronavirus testing numbers had dropped in a week.

Helen had been GMB a week earlier, in an interview described as a "train wreck" because she didn't appear to have correct figures on testing when asked by Susanna Reid's co-star Piers.

And this week, Piers was fuming there had only been 18,000 new tests carried out yesterday, a fall on previous days. After Health Minister Matt Hancock said the target was 100,000 per day by the end of April, Piers said he couldn't see how this target would be met.
