Scots key workers not eligible for UK government's Coronavirus testing scheme yet - but Sturgeon promises action 'very soon'

Expanded coronavirus testing for essential workers will be available in Scotland “very soon”, Nicola Sturgeon insisted. The First Minister said officials are working through the practicalities after a UK Government scheme was announced last night.

In England, health secretary Matt Hancock said up to 10 million key workers and their households can book a test online if they have symptoms.

NHS and care workers, police officers, teachers, supermarket and food production workers are among those eligible to register in England.It had previously been restricted to those working in the most critical Covid-19 response jobs.However, Scots key workers cannot apply for test through this scheme as health and the NHS are devolved.Today Nicola
