A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being knocked down by a Land Rover in Rochdale. The smash happened on Halifax Road, near to Littleborough, at around 3.40pm yesterday (Wednesday).
Police and paramedics raced to the scene. Police said a Land Rover Defender vehicle was travelling along Halifax Road towards Rochdale town centre when it collided with a pedestrian.

The Land Rover driver - a 29-year-old man - remained on the scene after the smash. He was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
