Ryan Lochte is opening up about his road to recovery. The 40-year-old Olympian opened up about a severe car accident he was involved in last November, resulting in various injuries, including a broken leg.
He and wife Kayla, 33, shared a joint video to their Instagram showing the six-time gold medalist on the mend. Keep reading to find out more… The video includes footage of Ryan being pushed in a wheelchair into his home by 7-yera-old son Caiden Zane, as his other children Georgia June, 1, and Liv Rae, 5, play in the background.
There’s footage of him using a walker in a hospital as well, and graphic shot of a scar on his leg, which extends from his hip.
Later on, there’s hopeful footage of Ryan running with a slight limp. “Life’s setbacks may knock you down, but they set the stage for an even stronger comeback!” the caption reads. “This guy has been putting in the work one step at a time, literally!” On the Athletes Only podcast, he spoke about the experience in January. “In the blink of an eye, your life can be over.
