An inquest has been held into the death of a mum who passed away after an ambulance just minutes from her home was cancelled.Karen Ovenell, 43, called 999 shortly after midnight on August 16 after experiencing acute chest pains, and an ambulance was dispatched.
However, barely 30 minutes later, she was contacted by a call handler who assessed her symptoms to be less critical, and the vehicle was stood down.
The inquest heard that proper procedure had not been followed, and that paramedics would have detected a heart attack and taken her to hospital, had they attended.Her father has since spoken about his disappointment with the service and NHS for the decision, believing it could have been vital in saving her life.
Speaking to Kent Online, Arthur Ovenell, 68, said: "If they had turned up that night she could have stood a chance. I really believe that the ambulance service and NHS let her down.
