As the upward trend in Covid-19 cases continues, businesses and families are preparing for the imposition of tighter restrictions from Christmas Eve.
Both the Taoiseach and the Chief Medical Officer have voiced grave concern about infection rates. Meanwhile, the Health Service Executive upgraded restriction requirements for people entering the country from England, Scotland and Wales.
With the new strain of the virus raising fears of increased transmission, the HSE upgraded its public health requirements for people arriving from Britain since 8 December.
They must now actually self-isolate for the full 14 days from their date of arrival. That means staying in their room - regardless of negative test results.
