Professor who advised Boris Johnson on coronavirus response says PM 'trashed' plan

A professor who helped advise the Government on behavioural science has said Prime Minister Boris Johnson today “trashed” the lockdown guidance he was given.

It comes after Mr Johnson appeared at the daily press conference where he stood by his top advisor Dominic Cummings after it emerged the top advisor travelled from London to Co Durham during the height of lockdown.

Conservative MPs had been baying for Mr Johnson to dispense with Mr Cummings after it emerged he had travelled 260 miles to County Durham in March to self-isolate with his family while official guidelines warned against long-distance journeys.

Further reports also suggested he took a second trip to the north in April, having already returned to London. Mr Cummings denied
