Tokyo Olympics set for 2021 postponement too if coronavirus vaccine is not found

The Tokyo Olympics are already in jeopardy again with 15 months to go until the rescheduled Games get underway. The coronavirus pandemic eventually saw the 2020 Games postponed, with Japan facing an extra year’s wait.

It is not only the Olympics that has been affected, as the Paralympics had to be pushed back to next year as well. Sport across the globe has been impacted on by the spread of COVID-19, and the Olympics will only be able to go ahead once it is safe for athletes to compete.

The International Olympic Committee and Tokyo 2020 organisers have rearranged dates set in place for the major event. Come 2021, the Games are due to take place from July 23 until August 8.
