Olympian Kenny Dwan, 71, opened up on the harrowing time he spent in a coronavirus ward while he was being treated for the illness.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, the two-time rowing champion talked about surviving the deadly virus and what he witnessed in intensive care.
He told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid patients on his ward were "begging to die" as they struggled to battle the illness, ripping off their face masks. "The doctors were pleading with people to reconnect their oxygen." He said he witnessed people speaking to their families on the phone "then going out in a black bag".
