Dominic Raab has said the UK is "starting to win" the battle against coronavirus. The Foreign Secretary was speaking at the government's daily press conference as he stepped in for the Prime Minister Boris Johnson who is continuing his recovery from COVID-19.
Mr Raab started by thanking the 'overwhelming majority' of the public who stuck to the strict measures over the Easter weekend after 'concerns' that many would flaunt the rules.
He said: "At the end of last week we were concerned that people might start ignoring the advice or cutting corners given the temptation to go out into the sunshine. "In fact the overwhelming majority of people stayed at home and understood the importance of doing so." A huge new hospital in Manchester city
