A woman has been left seriously injured in hospital after a crash involving three cars and a lorry closed the A77 for more than seven hours last night.The 30-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow following the incident between the Bankfield and Holmston roundabouts in Ayr.
The crash happened around 4.40pm and involved a green Citroen C4 Cactus, a grey Volkswagon Tiguan, a white Mercedes HGV and a white Ford Fiesta van.
The driver of the Citroen, a 30-year-old woman, was taken to hospital where her condition is described as serious but stable.
The driver of the Tiguan, a 49-year-old woman, was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment. No one else was injured.
