The 57 year old has been caring for her father, who had a suspected stroke and heart attack. It's reported that she learned he'd collapsed at home just minutes after the morning show wrapped up earlier this week - her parents and brother were all in Cornwall when it happened. "It was incredibly frightening as he was found unconscious and immediately taken to hospital," an insider revealed to The Sun. "Kate rushed to be by his and her mum's side minutes after GMB finished on air.

It seems likely that he's had a stroke and possibly a heart attack as well - doctors are still doing tests." "He remains in hospital and is currently stable but, understandably, it's given the whole family a terrible scare and they are praying he can recover." They added that Kate was already scheduled to be off work for a few weeks so she could be with her dad during his recovery.The source also told The Sun that it's crucial for the presenter to have a "normal summer break" after a tough year.
