Coronavirus Scotland: 1062 die from virus as confirmed cases hit 9038

A total of 1062 people have now died from  coronavirus  in Scotland  - an increase of 77 deaths overnight. The number of positive confirmed cases of Covid-19 has risen to 9038, up 366.

There are 155 Scots currently in intensive care  units across the country receiving treatment, it has been confirmed. Of the confirmed positive cases 1776 people are in hospital.

The latest stats come after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said health matters more than wealth in the coronavirus pandemic.

The SNP leader insisted there will be no “trade-off” between lives and jobs as a shock report predicted a third of Scotland’s economy is set to be wiped out.
