The scale of the coronavirus crisis in Scotland’s care homes was laid bare today as it was revealed they accounted for one third of all deaths.Stark new details from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon showed there are now 1616 presumed or confirmed deaths from the virus in Scotland.Of that number, 537 - 33 per cent - were in care homes, while 910 victims died in hospital.
The rest of the deaths were at home.Sturgeon said: “Reporting these numbers is really horrible and is the most difficult experience I have had as First Minister.“They are higher than any of us would ever want to think about but this information is very important because it gives us as clear a picture as possible of the effect the virus is having and where it is progressing.“We
