The total number of people in the UK who have died from coronavirus has risen by 215 in the past 24 hours, meaning the total death toll stands at 38,376, the government has said.
Speaking at the daily Downing Street briefing, Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden confirmed 38,376 people had died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Friday, up by 215 from 38,161 the previous day.
In the 24-hour period leading up to 9am on Saturday, 127,722 tests were carried out or dispatched with 2,445 positive results.
