Sandro Eric Sosing, who was due to play Ian White in the PDC World Championship, has been hospitalised after suffering chest pains just before his match on Friday at Alexandra Palace.
The 41-year-old darts player experienced discomfort while practising and, after being evaluated by medical professionals on-site, was taken to a hospital for further examination.
Consequently, Sosing has had to withdraw from the competition, resulting in White receiving an automatic pass to the second round.
The Professional Darts Corporation issued a statement confirming the incident: "Sandro Eric Sosing has withdrawn from his match with Ian White on medical grounds.
