David Cameron today launched an unprecedented attack on Boris Johnson for scrapping the foreign aid department. The former PM blasted the "mistake" of merging the Department for International Department (DfID) into the Foreign Office.
And he warned it would lead to "less respect for the UK overseas.” It is thought to be the first direct criticism Mr Cameron has issued of his successor since Mr Johnson took office last year.
It came as charities warned axing Britain's overseas aid ministry will see more children dying from famine and disease. The two departments will be merged to create a new Whitehall ministry, Boris Johnson announced.
