Financial expert highlights extent of cash problems facing Premier League clubs

Over a half of Premier League clubs will face a financial crisis if the season is not completed with Bournemouth set to be the worst hit.

Premier League chiefs have been given until May 25 to inform UEFA of their plans to restart or terminate the season. While the Bundesliga and Serie A are both pressing ahead with plans to resume their domestic campaigns, the coronavirus pandemic led to Ligue 1 being cancelled yesterday.

English clubs are now awaiting their fate and financial figures show just how hard they could be hit should they follow the same path as France and the Netherlands.

Of the 20 teams in England’s top flight, 13 of last season’s sides generated more than 70 per cent of their income from broadcasting revenues.
