Downing Street has released a full statement after announcing that Boris Johnson has been taken to an intensive care unit as he battles coronavirus.

The Prime Minister was admitted to St Thomas Hospital in London on Sunday after his symptoms worsened. This evening he was transferred to intensive care after his condition deteriorated.

A spokesman for 10 Downing Street said: "Since Sunday evening, the Prime Minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.
