Reverend Richard Coles quickly became a favourite among I'm A Celeb viewers and his fellow campmates after the 62 year old first walked into the Australian jungle.

In addition to the personal health revelation, he shared the lengths he went to in preparation for the show's challenges, including bulking up on a 5000-calorie-a-day diet during a cruise to counteract the impending sparse jungle meals, reports the Mirror. "I would like to say that I've been lowering my calorie intake to prepare for that, but that's not worked out so far.

I've been trying not to look at nature programs about the horrors of Australia," he joked, adding, "I am also worried about finding a fear I didn't know I had yet and going to pieces on television in front of a koala or wombat or something." Considering his healthy appetite, Richard confessed that he wasn't as scared by the idea of eating trials unlike many other campmates. "I like eating weird things anyway, so I have a rule of, whenever I go anywhere, is to eat the local.
